My Massage Therapist Goals

There are a variety of goals a massage therapist should have and what it takes to accomplish those goals.
I take my goals very seriously.

What are Massage Therapists goals?
Massage therapists are people who like to help other people. They aim to relieve (muscle) pain and tension, calm your nervous system and give you a period of time in which you and your wellness is the focus, all while providing a clean, safe, positive, relaxing experience. Keeping in mind to respect client boundaries, be non-judgmental and compassionate.  For a Massage Therapist to accomplish their goals, they need to:

◊       Help the client maintain health

◊       Help the client heal from injury

◊       Help the client cope with stress

◊       Provide relaxation

◊       Preserve or increase functional capacity

◊       Diminishing soft-tissue pain arising from stress, anxiety, adhesions, and overuse

◊       Providing treatment that is professionally appropriate for the client.

◊       Provide consultation with a client

◊       Evaluate clients for the appropriate approaches for their session

◊       Provide a clean and sanitized environment.

◊       Will provide adequate draping.

◊       Refrain from dating a client.

◊       Refrain from engaging in sexual activities with a client.

◊       Refrain from talking about sex.

◊       Refrain from sexual contact

◊       Respect client’s confidentiality..

◊       Respect a client’s comfort level.

◊       The Massage Therapist will dress professionally.

◊       Refrain from inflicting pain.

◊       Have Commitment to quality care.

◊       Represent qualifications honestly.

◊       Inform clients of our limitations

◊       Acknowledge to clients about contraindications.

◊       Maintain and improve professional knowledge.

◊       Conduct business and professional activities honestly.

◊       Do not discriminate against clients

◊       Respect clients right to treatment.

◊       Avoid any interest or activity that might be in conflict with our obligations.

◊       Respect client’s boundaries.

◊       Refuse any gifts that are intended to persuade you to act against your morals.

◊       Follow all policies, procedures, guidelines, codes, and regulations.

◊       Practice what you preach.

The goals of a Massage Therapist should go hand and hand with the code of ethics and boundaries. The code of ethics should also be looked at as goals to strive for. A massage therapist should develop public trust and confidence, enhance the reputation of the profession and safeguard the interest of individual clients.
